Worksop saw PB after PB!

28th October 2018

21 members of SADRC took on Worksop Half Marathon this Sunday in windy and rainy conditions. First back for the club was Will Kelly, giving himself a new PB along the way with 1hr18 and finishing 20th overall. 2nd man back for the club was Ed Crawford. Ed has only been running for a year, but is getting faster and faster with each race, again giving himself a new PB knocking a massive 6.23mins off his previous finishing in a time of 1hr26.  Following Ed, was Martin Chapman finishing in 1hr44.

For the ladies, Angela Thompson gained a big PB knocking 2.16mins off her previous time. Angela finished 3rd for the club with a PB time of 1hr39.  Charmane Holgate came in 2nd lady for the club, again with a PB time of 1hr51 followed by Becky Lee who also managed a PB Half Marathon run with a a sub 2hr time of 1hr55.

Other members who achieved PBs in this picturesque course which runs largely through Clumber Park, providing beautiful scenery was Sam Fox and Shawn Thomas, both gaining a PB with times of 1hr 55, Steph Scott had a PB time of 2hr06 followed by Sarah Thomas’s PB time of 2hr11. Julie Goodwin also knocked a massive 11 minutes from last years Worksop time finishing with 2hr08. Big well done to all members who took park in the Worksop Half Marathon!

Bright but cold conditions greeted runners at the second Lincs League Cross Country of the season at Castledyke Equestrian Centre on the outskirts of Boston. Skegness and District once again had an excellent turnout of runners, with the now famous ‘water jump’ providing the spectators with an excellent viewpoint to cheer on runners. The men’s team was led home by Mark Sands, with Jason Stainton and Mark Lyon providing good back up to complete our first scoring team. Andy Shelton, Brian Darrington and Charlie Luff worked hard throughout to make up the second scoring team.

In the ladies race Katy Hockam was the first runner back for the club just outside the top 20. She was supported by Helen Luff, Zoe Ward and Louise Darrington. Helena Shelton and Hannah Chapman worked hard together throughout and crossed the line hand in hand, showing the support and camaraderie within the club.

Ian Kocko ran the Fenland 10 Miler and represented the club as the solo runner and finished with a chip time of 1hr24. Ian said the course was “brilliant.”
